Mohammad AlRamahi, Director General of MDLF received a delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation headed by Mr. Thomas Jenatsch. The meeting which was held at MDLF main headquarters in Al-Biereh was aimed at briefing the delegation on the role of MDLF in supporting Palestinian local authorities, and the programs and projects they implement, and to discuss joint work between both parties.

On his part, ALRmahi welcomed the guests and thanked them for their continued support to local authorities through MDLF, and their continued joint cooperation throughout the previous period, and the current one, especially in vital projects for the various sectors of local government. AlRamahi emphasized the importance of the Swiss support to the local government sector and its constant endeavors to achieve local sustainable development.

MDLF staff presented a detailed explanation during the meeting detailing the programs and projects MDLF is working on, and which are implemented through the West Bank and Gaza Strip municipalities, and explained that MDLF’s projects and programs vary, and include emergency assistance, development projects, technical and institutional assistance, and creative initiatives that help improve performance of local authorities and to their ability to provide distinguished services and to achieve sustainable development in harmony with Palestinian national plans and policies.

On his part, Mr. Jenatsch expressed his admiration of MDLF’s operation mechanisms, and reiterated the importance of MDLF’s efforts and role in the support and development of municipalities in particular, and in the local government sector in general, through working on various programs and projects aimed at enhancing the capacities of municipalities and their ability to provide better services to citizens.
